The Big Payoff

Four years ago, a tall, lanky student graduated from Hillsborough High School and headed north to college, leaving behind the Robles Park Housing Project where he had grown up, a place surrounded by drugs, violence and hopelessness. "I'm glad to see anyone make it out of this neighborhood," one neighbor said to a Channel 8 reporter covering the story.

Adedayo was able to beat the odds because his work as a community volunteer brought him to the attention of All Sports Community Service founder and executive director, Tyrone Keys, whose entire organization is built on the concept of give back. Keys helped Adedayo make videotape to market himself to the Park Foundation. Recognizing Adedayo's potential, the Park Foundation awarded him a four-year scholarship at North Carolina State University. He was the first non-athlete student in the All Sports program to receive a scholarship of this magnitude.

But this story is only halfway done. On May 18, Adedayo Banwo will receive his Bachelor's in Journalism from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, and this fall he will begin studying Law at either the University of Florida or Duke.

Adedayo is excited about all the various areas of law he will be studying and is already planning how to help his community. "I want to be in a position to use my legal skills to help All Sports and the community in any way I can. I want to represent All Sports wherever I go, and introduce everyone to All Sports."
